I have been collecting for sometime now and today I think I made a great purchase, please advise. I went to the coin shop today and purchased a large set of proof coins, not in the hard case but in the single cardboard holders the set consists of coins from 1964 on up pennies , nickels, dimes quarters ,halves, dollars.I went through each coin and the redbook price and the total was $2,177.00 for the entire lot, I paid $1,100.00 for the whole lot. Did I really make a good purchase?

A little history: I have been dealing with this dealer for a long time and he has been fair everytime. Last week he sold me some gold pesos for 75.00 each (12 to be exact) he wanted 80.00 which was fair but you know us we have to try to get a better price, after I got home I thought I beat the guy up too much as he has always been super fair with me. I went back yesterday and told him I felt bad as he has always been fair with me and gave him $65.00 to make it the $80.00 he was originally asking. Today I go in and he told me he had this lot of proof coins he purchased and said it would take him forever to sell them singley to get his money back and he wanted to purchase more silver and gold coins with the money and he would like me to buy them, we went back and forth and decided on $1,100.00 , thats how the deal went down. He has been in business for a very long time.
