    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

Post photos of both sides of the entire coin.
What you've posted is not enough to be able to help you.

What your piece IS is a small date proof 1970. Note where the upper terminus of the "9" points. Remember that ALL proof coins are STRUCK twice. This may just be a coin that shifted in the collar between strikes.

By the way, being a small date adds MORE value than being some minor double.

I also thought small date, but the point on the 9 is not sharp. Need to see how LIBERTY is struck

I couldn't match that one up to any of the variety sites ones .
First thing I had to do is match the mint-mark placement up .

    Which I couldn't do ..

It's really hard to tell. I like Rick was mainly looking for the re-engraved tie.

Max, your 1970-S proof IS a small date - ZERO doubt in my mind. I would buy it as one. I don’t think it’s a DD, but is absolutely a small date.

Hi Kurt, Would it worth sending it out to grade or just keep it? im not sure how much this type of coin would sell for. thanks for your input.

IF you can get it for a nice rate, do send it in. It would not be worth sending it in all by itself. Fixed costs are too high. Put it aside in a 2.5"x2.5" flip and wait until you have a bunch to send in. I never send in fewer than 5 coins, and mostly 10 or more.

I recommend setting up one of those short 2.5x2.5 red boxes and marking it "Coins to Be Graded".
