Collectors and non coin collectors voiced very verbally, and in print, their objections to such a flagrant display of Brenner&#039;s initials that the mint elected to remove them later on in 1909, thus there are four different 1909 Cents.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The initials were never reapplied to the reverse, and it was not until 1918 Brenner&#039;s initials were returned to the cent.
