Today I want to share 4 prison tokens. Hard to believe that these were used. I put them in the coin forum as they have a value and were used by the inmates to exchange them for goods.

Thus one is brass and is from Chippewa Wisconsin Prison.

Me neither and I ran into these so I bought them. I think they are neat. I can’t imagine what it would be like today if these were still used.

So only the first one is billed as a "temporary correctional facility". Seems to me that any "correctional" process is inherently "temporary" -- once you've corrected something, it doesn't need correction any more, right?

They should have made a "Get out of jail" coin. That's the one they give to the guy on the morning of his release and used to open the final door leading to freedom.
