I suppose it does for modern coins you don't want to touch. But, those of us who collect ancient coins and want to fondle them would find it hard to get them out of the holders. Even flips in those spots are not easy to get out. Plus, you are seeing the coin through two layers of plastic.
Yes, you are right. That is the downside. You have to devote a bit of time to access them if you want to touch them. Some have stayed in the original slips they were delivered in for a few weeks after arriving so I could handle them more easily. Only after I had got that out of my system did I then store them.
