LOL. NO silly, I meant, I got her to exchange them for rolls of dimes. I searched them and came up with ZIP. A total Bust ! Sorry for any confusion I caused.
Here's another story that happened at the thrift store today. Not about coins, but the same thing. I'm looking at the books. This man next to me finds a Beanie Baby price guide. Next, I see this guy in the toy department. He's got a whole cart full of these things. He picks one up, thumbs through the price guide, and throws the Beanie into the cart. Now I'm standing in the checkout lane and this guy is in front of me. He bought 85 dollars worth of Beanie Babies!!! I hope this guy has better luck trying to sell these things than I think he will have.
People are desperate. My neighbor looks for the "hot toy" for Xmas. Buys all he can. If he doesn't scalp them, he returns them to the store and gets his money back. SAD.
that plan would work, if i could get the flux capacitor in working order... i may look stupid standing outside in a thunderstorm with a large steel rod, but once i catch a lightning bolt, my neighbors won't be the ones laughing!! really though, someone should inform this guy its not 1999! i remember seeing them for $100's when i was younger. i did collect them
Some Beanie Babies can be worth quite a bit actually, but they really will only sell for the high prices if authenticated. I have quite a few Beanie Babies, close around 100, some of them might be worth what my parents paid when I used to collect them, but odds are the prices have dipped. The Beanie Babie market is just not there anymore and that might be sad what the guy is doing but hey, what if he found one of the rare ones in good shape? You just never know.
I have Obamas daughters before they changed the tags. My lucky freind gave them to me. I say lucky because he stumbles upon everything. Cleaned a ladys house for less than a year and because he commented on her vase she gave it to him, turned out to be a $10000 tiffany vase. Next he bought 3 sets of silver 1999 quarters and then one of each year after for no reason, lastly he owns a flower shop and a kid paid with a 1924 mercury dime last week:rolling:
Kinda reminds me of every single time someone hears that I know antiques and coinage. They tell me "Hey Jason my man , I have this amazing piece that's worth hundreds.Or ; Hey dude , my dad gave me like 10000 $ worth in coins. Or yet again : I have this amazing Dali signed engraving.... Every single time I get super interested that someone would share their pieces with me but when they show me their said item .... junk. And I will always be blunt by telling them that what they have in their position is : not silver, not rare , a replica and in some cases typically art ; fakes. Everyone thinks they have a fortune tucked away in junk, Ah bein !
I fail to see anything wrong in this, it's simply a form of speculation like any other. It's called Arbitrage and it's legal, good for him !
I put low-grade common Indian head cents, dateless, or almost dateless, buffalo nickles and such in change when I can. Who knows if one of tomorrow's great collectors will get his start from what I do.
Wow! I wonder if that old coot got his butt beat by his wife when he got home? Either that or they exchanged notes on stuff they picked up that day!! There's a sucker born every minute, this is real stuff that could be made into hilarious tv!!!
I just figured out they were only minted in 1976 because of the 200 years from like freedom. See im trying in little strides
and then after the whipping dull out some punishment...I swear it makes me so angry how much my dad has almost been ripped off if I wasn't there to save the day...I wonder how many ppl have been scammed like that...
A friend of mine's house was broken into recently. One of things they took was the quarter map they had on the wall. You know, the map of the US with a spot for the state quarter from each. They were ONE QUARTER away from finishing it! Not a financial hit, just 9 years of looking for them down the tubes. I'm sure the crook gave it to his kid or spent it on a few loads of laundry ...
