Are there any diffences, coin wise, between what you get out of a "mint wrapped" roll, a direct ship box, and a mint set (non-proof). It would seem to me you would have a better chance of finding a pristine coin from a direct ship box.

Might be a good idea that you don't like them anymore - my bank quit getting them, so I can't supply them to you know :D
I tried to email you to tell you, but it bounced back...

I think they are regular uncirculated dollars in that set. The only place to get satin finish coins has been in the uncirculated mint sets starting in 2005.

I don't know AUBU2, the coins in those sets look exactly like the coins in my mint sets, which bear absolutely no resemblance (finish wise) to the rolls that I have purchased.....:)

I think so, too. Taking somebody else's idea here, I got a 2009 set, just to break it up and put them in my album (at $15.95, that's just $2 per coin, no fuss, no seaching). I just got it, and as I was breaking it up, looked at them under my 8x loupe. I was unimpressed -- they looked just like what I could've gotten with the "direct ship" plan (except, of course, that I only had to get 8 coins, instead of 8 x $250; and that I got coins that otherwise haven't been released yet).

But my point is that they looked like regular Unc's -- with some scuff marks, and bag marks, and the like.

    satin?

The mint website simply states the sets as uncirculated. If they were satin finish the website would have noted it i'm sure. I'm not sure why your coins don't resemble the rolls though. I notice that some rolls do vary in appearence. Some are almost prooflike, where another roll will have a more burnished look to it.

The uncirculated mint sets have satin finish coins...they are not the same finish as circulation coins. It has been that way since 2005. So, the rolled dollars and the dollars in the mint sets will have a different finish.

Well, I'm tellin' ya' . . . I got the 2009 set today, I cracked 'em open to put in my album just a few hours ago, and they looked like regular ole' Unc to me. I didn't notice anything different about the surface, and I looked pretty hard.

So, where is this info coming from that 2009 mint sets have satin finish? (I.e., have a source?)

That's how it's been for the last several years and I haven't seen anything from the mint say they have changed it. Maybe the Presidential only set are just business strikes...but I'll bet the normal mint sets are still satin.

It looks like the mint sets aren't available yet. I don't know when they come out.

Just for a test, and because the WHHarrison coins have been going for so much, I stopped at the bank and picked up a roll for $25. I listed it on e-bay and it just sold for $33 plus shipping (my first sale ever on ebay...). That is crazy, but hey, I make a few bucks and I can buy more coins....
