Subscriptions are great, I have been using them for years, Proof Sets, Mint Sets, Proof ASE's. As far as getting Prez dollars from your bank, in my opinion it depends on what you want to collect. I don't think you are going to be able to get both mint marks and I have serious doubts about getting the different Prez's as they are issued. As soon as the initial frenzy wears off, banks are not going to keep ordering coins every three months, especially if they have stock piles on hand from previous issues and no place to unload them. Don't forget, banks are not in the coin collecting business, they are in the service business to provide for their customers. Same thing when the Sac's first came out; I got UNC rolls for awhile and then all of a sudden they were rolls of very used coins, which by the way look rather nasty color wise. The good thing about banks is you will not pay a premium, you'll get 25 coins for $25. Bottom line, if you want UNC rolls of each mint and each issue, a US Mint Subscription is the way to go; I'm hoping they will offer subscriptions. Just my two cents, thanks, Douglas

I haven't had time to study these much - I know I want some - but there is going to be Ps and Ds right? Of course, Ss will be in the Spring (Late April).

I'm getting a friend on the west coast to get me rolls from the Denver mint. I can get Philadelphia coins here.

As to whether the banks will continue to order the Prez dollars; they have kept up with the state quarters. Each time a new issue comes out, they have some and it's the 9th year of the program. I'm hopeful.

What seems to work best is to establish a relationship with someone at the bank. They're usually willing to save the rolls for you.

Presidential dollar rolls now available by subscription

The US Mint site now lists subscriptions for 2-roll sets (one P, one D) for the presidential dollars (presumably starting with the John Adams dollars)

This is going to increase some of there mintage total on the proofs and some sets and could increase the prices if the mint knows they have you already signed up.

I will order what I want not what the mint wants us to do
    just my opinion

they are much cheaper at the bank

The coins from rolls from the bank seem to be pretty beat up. Has anyone seen the condition of rolls coming directly from the mint? I haven't opened my rolls from the mint yet, but perhaps they are handled less and more carefully than the ones shipped to banks.
