And that would be if the coin's pedigree were definitively known from the time it was minted to present date. And it was known, with reasonable certainty, that the coin had never been dipped by any of those owners. That said, I do not know of even a single coin, even including the greatest rarities, where that is the case. Is there such a coin, or more than one ? Yeah, maybe. But if there is you can bet that you'll have fingers left after you count them all. So is it a hopeless task ? When push comes to shove I'd have to say yes.[/QUOTE]
