Preliminary List of the Bad Chinese Counterfeiter with Fake PCGS Slabs

I have put together an initial list of the counterfeits, most in fake PCGS holders sold by the main Chinese company.

I have included links to each "offering" and an image where I have one; pretty disturbing how many there are we haven't yet documented...

Please feel free to use as you see fit; I will continue to update while on the lookout for others.

I will have this list printed with me at Central States this week.

Thank you. Everytime I read about this I always think about people who unknowingly purchased this junk.

 

Tough to get the 1899 above to scan but twice it read 12277603. Interesting that the one in your doc has a different barcode. I can't get that one to scan but it's clearly different visually. Different label runs or different manufacturer? I'm thinking they pass around a list of cert #s to use.

 

Unfortunately seller sold 2 others previously...

Thanks Jack. Worst will I’m sure be people like me dealing with estates and collections that are not just numismatic and people bought a couple bad ones mixed with good. Along with other collections. I have always loved coins. Many estate appraisers and sellers don’t know them beyond a book. Will cause a lot of problems especially fake slabs. . 20 years from now. And people forgot about the bad stuff as it was just put away. Damn Chinese bad coins. Bad counterfeit products and Covid. Plus they use cats and dogs for food.

Thanks you for all your hard work and research, enormous value for us collectors. Hopefully many of us will try to share this knowledge with heirs and loved ones (just in case).

Another add to the list from the Bay yesterday...

 

It looks like they're improving the typography and color gradient on the fake labels.

 

As usual, the barcode is garbage. Among other things, such as the coin looking like garbage too.
