My display at The 62nd HOUSTON MONEY SHOW
PRE-COIN ROMAN MONEY or Roman "money" from 1000 to 390 BC, or how did Rome pay their soldiers at Veii in 400 BC if they started producing coins in 300 BC?

I have been interested in how Rome paid their soldiers at Veii about a century before they started producing coins. Pics of my display are below. You can read a bit more on my blog - http://rrdenarius.blogspot.com/

The steelyard scale on right has about one week's pay or 15 US lbs. of bronze.
