That 1885 piece has seen some "action". I may be wrong, but I can't think of another date in any series where there were less business strikes made compared to proofs. Almost 25% fewer. If this was a charm, I hope the wearer faired better than the coin.
Right now I think I would like to get a decent coin showing lots of roman numerals if not a lot of money. I can't start collecting them. My holed sets keep me busy enough at this time in life. Another few hundred coins and I won't be so busy.
Also from the Wiener Neustadt mint. These Austrian pieces are rough but rare. This is a duplicate. Just wasn't paying attention.
A weisspfennig from the Riehl mint. These coins are an interesting series. When the centers are well struck they show well. It's a shame this isn't one of those pieces.
This one from the Riehl mint. Two flan cracks and neither one effects the date. Maybe my luck has turned.
From the Bacharach mint. Relatively well struck. One of my favorites from the dated Weisspfennig series. They started making these without dates in the mid 1300's. The first with a date is from 1425.
From the Bingen mint. My luck has changed for the worse again. A flan crack, though small, at the date. Relatively well struck.
