Reverse types included a bison reminiscent of that on the nickels of 1913-38, as well as a view of the Pacific Ocean as it was first viewed by the Lewis & Clark Expedition in 1805. Quoted on the coin is an entry from Clark's journal: "Ocean in view! O!
