Slightly better photos of the 38-D and my 38-S. Still looking for the right 38-P to complete my first year set.
I will try to take some pictures of the Dansco. I have some, but the lighting is uneven. I need to remove the plastic slides to get rid of reflections, too. Pretty sad shot, but shows the potential.
I’m not a Nickels person, but damn. Those are beautiful. I like the animated photos that show the cartwheel.
Here are a few shots of the coins in the Dansco. The natural color variation makes an attractive presentation. Here the collector starts sneaking in some proofs for ‘62 and ‘63. Since there is only room for one Philadelphia coin for each year, would you have kept all business strikes, tried for all the proofs possible, or mixed them?
I agree. It’s too bad I don’t know who it was, so I could tell them the set is appreciated in its new home. I’m more a custodian of the set than its owner. In that role it seems right for everyone to be able to share in what the unknown collector achieved.
This is the first time I've "watched a thread". Fun to see someones else endeavors. Have you looked for and or found any OMMs/RPMs? If the original owner slipped in proofs, might of slipped in other goodies. Thanks for taking the time to shows this.
They do....what gets me from working coin shows the a set of unc. Jefferson nickels only sell or bring $300. I've seen dealers on both Jefferson's and Franklin Halfs complete unc. Sets pass on buying ! Not a huge market so they dont want to tie up their money.
1941 Edit: I wasn't happy with this morning's photos. Here are new ones. I left the still image, above, for comparison. The photo of the obverse in the album pictures (post #30) showed a lot more luster than my original. I adjusted the light angle to bring out more of the reflectivity and lengthened the exposure by a tiny bit to be less grey.
New coins still looking good! This thread is really making me want to put together an album of uncirculated Jefferson’s.
Fantastic stuff!! Really love the Jefferson Nickels. I've found that a lot of my coins in my Dansco set are starting to tone gold. Have you noticed anything with that?
