I am starting a new project collecting US minted world coins. So I decided maybe a post yours thread would be helpful. According to PCGS there are over a 1000 different coins minted by the US for other countries. I want to see them all!!! This will really help me to decide which ones I want to add to mine.

While I have more coming in the mail next week I will start with the one I do have now.

    So here we go....

    1943D (Denver) Australia 3 pence. 1943DAUS.jpg
    KM#37, 1.14g, 16mm, .925 silver.

I will be adding more as I get them.

Now lets see yours. Get Posting!

In 1907 the New Orleans Mint struck over 5 Million coins for Mexico. This was the
only foreign coin ever struck at the New Orleans Mint. The coins had the Mexico
mintmark on them and are identical to the Mexico issues.

The San Francisco and Denver mint struck several Million of these in 1906-1907.
They are identical to those stuck in Mexico.

Hmm, something tells me Denver minted way more than San Francisco. 1906-1907 didn't treat San Francisco very well.

This brings up another topic. How long did it take the San Francisco Mint to recover from the 1906 Earthquake?

I've got a coin like this but it is a 1/4 balboa instead of a half balboa and is dated 1947. It's one of my favorites.

Not very long, it seems: "The Granite Lady herself stood through both the earthquake and the firestorm, but without gas power, coins couldn't be made there for a while. In the meantime, the building did special service as a bank for the people of San Francisco until the regular banks could reopen." Source, also see here ...
