Maybe it was that bourbon that some of the other posters talk about. I admit I have a hard time parting with more than a few dollars at a time. You can tell that by the number of times I post is this Under $50 thread. A drink or two helps loosen up the tightwad tendencies so I can bid even a little. I almost nailed the $50 mark on this one. Maybe that's why I bought something that not only was a raw coin, but said "questionable color" right in the title of the listing. But I liked the detail I saw in the seller's photos, and I am working on filling out this decade of Indian cents. Now here's my issue. Yes, the coin is unnaturally glossy and doesn't have much cartwheel luster. It has very original die erosion lines that don't appear to have been disturbed by cleaning. But, it is also a dead ringer for the plate coin on the NCG web site. It has the same color and the same glossiness. Even the weakness of the diamonds is identical. So, did I pay $50 for a problem coin, or did I just pay $50 for a MS65 RD worth $1000? Now, if I wasn't so cheap I could get it graded and find out. Edit: I decided to add an obverse photo at the maximum resolution supported on CoinTalk.
