These halves are one of my favorite coins, I always felt like they look like pirate treasure. Or something people carried in chests on boats ha
Bought these in late December 2017 and started carrying them as pocket pieces January 1, 2018. They were blast white when new.....almost 3 months later.
Nice!! I had a great Silver Eagle as a pocket piece. Couldn't tell you where it went off too though. Maybe it's in a couch cushion.
Well, @DallasCoinsNThings , I'm more AG3. Would like to see at least a couple letters in LIBERTY. But a decent reverse and you CAN see her nose. Nicer than the cleaned '86 I bought at ANA NMS last week.

A little difference between yours without "CENTS" and mine WITH "CENTS". BUT, a good price, nonetheless... looks about AU Details to me, but it is sure pretty dark!
Yeah, that's the look I'm always after. Silver's one thing, but getting it with copper nickel usually means what would qualify as environmental damage is going on. Not something I would ever submit so it's all good here. My raw CircCam box don't judge.
I LOVE this thread! It shows that there are plenty of worthwhile coins for under $50. Kudos to the OP @jtlee321 !!!
If you can see a couple letters in LIBERTY, it's generally VG. There's a good bit of detail missing on the reverse of that coin, but full rims on both faces. Don't know if it would grade cleanly, but at $0.85, wouldn't care.
Hey, I like them both. Reason I finally bought an 1886 and settled for cleaned is that I've turned my set of NGC-005-4-1 samples (the ones w/ the liberty nickels) into a full set. Since the samples are all G4 +/- ...
