For whatever it's worth Paddy, it's pretty much a certainty that there are a whole lot of people who had no idea that any of the coins he posts pics of were for sale. But they do now because you told the whole world ! And for the record, there is nothing he is doing that breaks the forum rules. No I didn't. I told you I removed your sig line because your sig line did break the rules. This rule - 6 – Signature lines Signature lines may contain a link to a website which you own or otherwise control, or of your employer. And only links - no text. Signatures are not to be used for advertising pitches. They can however be used for informational statements which reflect your character, or other tasteful information about yourself or your coin collection. Signature lines may never contain political comments be they endorsements and/or derogatory in nature. Any and all members are permitted by that rule to have a link in their sig line to a sales site they own, or run, or use. But what they are not allowed to do is to add a sales pitch to that sig line. That's the part of the rule you broke. So if you want to have a link to your sales site in your sig line, that's fine. You just can't add a sales pitch to it. And that applies to everybody, not just you. And you are certainly not the first, nor last, who has had their sig line removed for that reason.
It arrived today. The die break I thought I saw turns out to be two shallow scratches. This may prevent it from being considered a new die state, bur it is the most advanced III I've seen.
Well, that was more of an odyssey than I would've liked. All the ASEs suddenly disappeared from the store I usually go to. Went to another one about 20 minutes away, picked out a 1g carded gold bar and three silver rounds, almost got them rung up -- and the manager came charging over saying that the deal didn't apply to coins or bullion. It didn't sound like a very hard or fast rule to me, so I stopped by another (tiny) store this evening. I still had to wait quite a while for them to call around for info about the promotion, but they finally said I was good to go. So: A cleaned 1956 quarter for $6.88? Not a great deal, but fair admission for a free gram of gold...
Although I wasn't breaking any rules with my signature, I did reduce the size of it (take a look!). Hopefully this is more amicable for everyone .
Small bank hoard of Roosevelt dimes. I just took quick pics of the obverse. Lot of three won at auction for $31.60.
This one cost me a whole $1.25. For a circulated toner, it is very colorful. The color pops in person, and the photos don’t do this coin justice. Now if that $1.25 was spent on a lottery ticket...
I paid 25 pounds for this 1823/2 Cent at a coin show in the UK years ago. This happened quite a few years ago but even adjusting for inflation it is still a very good find. It is the overdate variety, Newcomb N-1.
