A nice little group of late date large cents. Cost was 110 euros (about $ 122) for all 3 cents, (including an 1827 Capped bust dime in VG). The 1856 is very nicely detailed and although weakly struck, it is about AU.
Just rub it in a little more!! And yes, YOU SUCK!! I assume that was an eBay pick? I didn't catch how tough of a date that was the first time around. Lincoln's are not my series, but they are slowly growing on me. Hell of a score on that one.
Both these for under 50. The Kennedy was pulled from an original roll. The dealer and I went thru it and this was the best one. The peace dollar is BU, a little dirty, but not a bad hole filler.
The seller was closing out his "store" and he thought it was cleaned as did I from his pictures. But I like the full wheats for $30. An interesting side. The 23-S is the second rarest Lincoln with any red (RD + RB) second only to the 15-S at least on the PCGS figures and NGC.
Seller's pics. The winning bid was just a little less than $50, so I am in these a little over $7 apiece. I figured I couldn't go wrong. Two of them are upgrades to my type set, and the rest, including my two that will be upgraded, can be sold for a profit.
Nice call on that one. I don't know why PCGS or NGC don't like woodies. They are too cool. I love them.
I assume that you have looked through https://www.cointalk.com/threads/got-wood.65353/. There are a lot of interesting coins in there.
Here's an Indian you see in my signature line. I paid $40.00 for it. It's finally getting graded. The color is unreal as it is very dependent on the angle of the lighting.
Here's one of my weakness's, my wallet's worst fear, the dreaded 1913 Type 1 Buffalo Nickel. I had NO competition on this one when I stole it. I took it home for $35.00. Sure it's an AU, but the color is amazing!!
This was probably one of my best buys. This 1800 Draped Bust Cent was in a small collection of 25 U.S coins I bought at auction for about $150. There were 4 other large cents in the collection, including a nice 1819, an 1821 and an 1820. I still have them all. Even though this was quite a few years ago it works out to only about $30-40 per coin in present value.
That is a gorgeous Large Cent! I'd love to own one of those one day, I just know next to nothing about them.
These are my under $50 purchases, thanks to @robec for the imaging. $25.00 $19.50 12A VAM (Anyone can offer an estimated grade ) $.25 Under $50 but I cant remember how much. $5.00 $5.00 $.75
Gorgeous!! @robec is one of the guys that inspired me to get into coin photography. Spectacular images and crazy nice coins for the prices you paid. Well done.
So you were the one that won that. I was a cheapskate, so I bid much less than €110. I didn't win it, obviously.
I picked this Columbian Expo Half up over the last weekend at a local coin show. I paid $30.00 for it.
I'd prefer larger images but what I'm seeing on the Peace Dollar is a high-end 63 or 64. That would put it into the "pretty dang serious premium" category for this VAM. They're "common" as big VAMs go, except at the high end (64 and above) where values skyrocket. ANACS has 144 in their census, with 6-MS64's being the highest graded. PCGS has over 200, with 13-64's and 2-65's. I know robec's images are larger than that. Give this one its' own thread for grading, as it may well be the most profitable coin yet posted here.
