This one is posted in another thread waiting to hear what you would pay? So I won't disclose the price now....but no near $50.
But must say I am thrilled to have completed this set . The set has only 8 pcs to it as the mint discontinued it after Van Buren The last 3 under 3000 made. The retails are as follows J.Q.Adams $79. Monroe $49. Jackson $60. & Van Buren $85. I paid a total of $16. For the 4 and as noted in another post the 3rd,4th,and 5th for $4th ea. A full set of 8 trends for just under 200.00!
Here's another pick up from last Sunday's show. I've always been a fan of the Australian Kookaburra bullion coins. I have most of the early dates but have missed a few dates including 2016. This was a no brainer as I traded another 1oz. Bullion coin for this specimen . So I'm even on this one "0" cost. My first 2017 coin....
Would you believe I have 3 different obverse die cracks on the way? Almost as much fun as VAMming. I'll post them up when I have them all in hand...
So the other day I stopped by another little shop in the area that sells this and that...he had some sealed 64 proof sets. I offered $15 for pig in the poke ,hoping for maybe some toned coins. well none were toned but nice frosty devices. And a Blunt 9 Roosevelt sweet.
I got this back in 1993 or 1994 for 75¢. The reverse has some encrustations on it, so the dealer sold it to me thinking it was a regular 1908. It came out of his junk IHC bin. A bit of cleaning and the mint mark was revealed!
Cant beat that deal! Even with the cleaning it is still a nice grab Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Is this the same John C. Dewyell that invented the circular buttress? http://www.google.com/patents/CA34418A?cl=un
That's the only reference I came across in my cursory search. Time period seams correct. Maybe the counteratamp guy, is it @BRandM ? Can help I wonder what type of premium this one would command. Its not a well know counterstamp, I don't think, or a popular business but it is a full name on a MORGAN and possibly an inventor so...
Dewyell isn't listed in any reference I have, Cascade. I've not seen this one before, but Your inventor seems promising. I'll look into it and see if I can come up with anything. I'd say a value of $50 to $75 wouldn't be out of line, but probably not much more. Thanks for posting it. Bruce
