Is there a good physical book on IHP that you'd recommend? So far I've only ever collected the dates, but I'd like to get into the varieties too.
I have several cpg, snow, the F.ind.er's report by Flynn I use quite a few web sites....to be honest.
I paid $20 each for the $1 coins, and $25 for the dime. Probably overpaid on the dime, but thought it was cool.
I just checked the coin and could not find evidence of crashing. Must’ve been the light or scratches on the case. Thanks for the eagle eye though! (Pun intended)
Oh, I totally see what you’re pointing at from your image. There’s a scratch on the case causing that mark on the left circle. I can’t find it on the right side.
I see now...under the eagels chin youll notice that the area has been Abraded, reworkked removing the clashes.

PCGS price guide reference.
You’ve now got me thinking someone intentionally scratched this coin to make it look like that variety. I definitely see the spot and why you caught onto it. Crazy coincidence. Here are some photos.
I’m telling you it’s incuse on the coin. Look at the second and third under magnification images. It’s a scratch. There’s another scratch immediately west of the W in WE, running N-S. Likely done by the same object after it left the mint.
I see it better now looks fresh too...and exactly where it need be Trying to copy and adjust the photo and see the correct fields.
