Here is another tip of something being replated....spots or dots of items that were on the orginial skin resurface on the new around the rim...May look scalely like 43's were steel and what does steel do? It rust and you need to remove all the rust or what happens....it resurfaces.... so the zinc coating flakes off....
When ever you replace any medal it must be spotless of any dust ,rust, or anything that will prohibit the transfer to a clean surface.

Interesting, I have several rolls of P and D 1943 and they all look proof like. I inherited these rolls but now wonder if they're all plated.

edit...And I think I do remember a spec that fell off on my hand when I last went through the rolls.

I think the thickness of the lines is due to my camera, I'm using my phone cam....
The details are pretty sharp in person...

I didn't buy this coin specifically, didn't even know I was going to get it, it came with a pile of about 50 other coins I bought at auction, paid $48 for the whole lot. I also got a 43 D but it has a lot of oxidation and wear...

Looks plated. These will still have cartwheel luster if uncirculated and original. The good news is, it’s a common coin so even in high grades they are very affordable if you’d like a nice example of one with original surfaces.

    I've got 6 more, 2 s, 3 P, 1 D.
All but the D have horrible oxidation...

Wow great pickups! Do even those ones with a slight feather showing count as 2 Feathers? If so that'd be awesome.

I like em all, including the circulated buffs. You gonna send any of them in for grading?

    According to PCGS CoinFacts, yes.

I’m seriously thinking about it. The toned 1945 S is very nice.
