How do you find your comment helpful? I mean, sure it’s poorly written, but how exactly are you contributing to this thread by adding only a critical comment? @Eddie R it looks like the coins you showed are not rare coins, just circulated ones. Feel free to keep posting coins you have questions about. Try starting your own thread in the “What’s it Worth” forum.
Sorry to stray off topic @jtlee321 & this might be a bit harsh but here goes..... Ill bet this website alone is responsible for souring the tastes of 100s, maybe 1,000s of would be collectors and keeping them from diving deeper into this hobby. Instead they give up, having been letdown and then insulted after posting a potential find. I remember being attacked the very 1st thread i ever posted. I was already pot commited so to speak when i joined. I cant even fathom how some of these new change searchers could keep a high interest level. Especially after posting here, & being embarrased, nitpicked, criticized, and then insulted for good measure on the way out the door. Good googilly moogilly people. Rant over As you were, soldier.
Eh, we weed out the thin skinned. My first thread had a couple guys taking shots, too. But no big deal. Learn and move forward!
WE haha..... i wish it was a collective group effort . Its a small group who leisurely attacks. The guys we should model ourselves after, are the Fred Weinbergs and the Rick Snows of the ether world. Sidenote: i DO realize that im not the most pleasant member to idly chat with. Thats why i dont respond to most elementary drivel thats posted
I have had to learn not to respond to some of the stupid stuff that gets posted on here. Im afraid what I might say, would get me a time out. Heck first week I was here I was given a time out
I never would of figured that @Evan8 You seem pretty well-behaved from posts I've read.we should start a banned members only thread and attack each other lol..... I must have committed a felony then because I got hit with 60 or 90 I can't remember now
Lol yeah. I talked politics. Idk what happened but it only lasted like a day then I had access again. Ive tried to be a good boy since lol
By trying to get something I can read through the first time without losing my place and having to reread. That’s how I find my comment helpful. I see a lot of hatred and nonsense arguments here and I get called out for suggesting he make it a little easier to get through?
I've just learn to read past all the non-punctuated, run-on paragraphs. They just give me a headache. If people truly want *your* time, they'll make sure that they put in *their* time to provide a concise, easy to read question, etc for you to read. Otherwise it's like all those threads asking about a coin with no pictures.
Nice, problem-free AU 1865 3 Cent Nickel. Cool thing about it is the reverse is 180 degrees rotated! Not to mention the cool rim cud on the obverse. The clash marks on the reverse suggest the dies were in medal alignment for at least a little while. And this cost me a whopping $9.50. And who could go wrong with a nice VF bustie for less than $50? O-114, R2.
Have you considered that some people come from other countries and that English is their second or third language? Some people have disabilities that make it hard to formulate sentences. That post wasn’t the best written one, but it was at least discernible. You add nothing to the thread by criticizing a person and not offering any tips on their actual coin question. At this point, we are not both wasting time and space on this thread because you feel the need to defend your personal attack on someone. Let’s be better than this.
One way we might encourage beginners is to point out that while beat-up pocket change is almost never worth anything, you can get interesting proof coinage for $12.50 or less. This would be even more interesting if I cracked it out and got a better light angle. I feel sorry for whoever spent $30 to slab a $12.50 coin. I guess I bought the slab -- and got the coin for free.
My new favorite coin of the week right here. $49.99 shipped. Both sets of photos are of the same coin. Absolutely insane looking.
