I did not see the crack until you pointed it out. Here's a full-size crop. I see that it also extends upward at the left and sneakily masquerades as part of the veins of the leaves. There's a smaller crack that runs up the right side as well.
Yeah I knew it did run through the leaf vein, and that's why you didn't notice it.... I did lol nice find I love die cracks as such
I bought a 71 U.C. set the other day, 10$ This D Kennedy FS-102 was accompanied by it's counterpart P DDO-001, Here is the reference. http://varietyvista.com/Variety Master Listings/kennedy doubled dies 1971-1994.htm#_1971
Today was a pickers dream day for varieties. These all came from my favorite local shop. I can't believe how much material comes through this shop, I love it!! The best part is it's only 5 minutes from me. These were all well under $50.00 each. The 4 1938-D Nickels all came from a group of 5 that he had in. I was very surprised that 4 out of the 5 were varieties. 1938-D/S OMM-002 #1 1938-D/S OMM-002 #2 1938-D/S OMM-003 1938-D/D RPM-002 This next one I would not have found had it not been for @Paddy54 posting all of his half dime varieties. They inspired me to go ahead and take a look at the half dimes in the case. This is an 1849/6 that I found among the group.
Some nice pick ups there Justin. The 1849/6 not 8 as even pcgs notes is incorrect! There isn't a 9/8 however three 9/6's. The one you found is an OVD-001 V-4 Breen 3051. 1849/46 There's a lot of information on this which I can share later, it's time to get this day started. Values G 25 F 40 vf 65 xf 140 au 200.
Here's a recent pick up from one of the local bullion shops. I paid $40.00 for this beauty. It has the exact look that I love in the older NGC Fatty holders. I'd call this one a high end 64.
