It's Victoria the Queen...:rollling: Yes, this terrible girl is the queen Victoria. Certainly, this monster is Victoria the Queen!:headbang: The designer was drunk.
Well, Christian. Maybe You right. But, as for me, I prefer a classics. When I hear a music - it is doo-wop; when I look on a pictures - it's a pictures of Rembrandt. I will tell frankly - I don't consider Pablo Picasso as the artist. He is only the handicraftsman for me I don't like the modern art. I suppose that modern artists are simply deprived of talent - they can't create great works of art and therefore give out the primitive hand-made articles for the new directions of painting.
There is no (or hardly any) "right" or "wrong" when it comes to what we like and dislike. And yes, I find the works of Rembrandt very interesting too. I also admire many coins from ancient Greece or Rome, from the Middle Ages, from the late 19th/early 20th century ... But that does not mean that the coins we use today should look like imitations of those older ones. Would not say that I like every Picasso work that I have ever seen, but I'm sure we do not have the very same opinion about him. But here is a "coin" (well, some legal tender piece with some face value ...) that I don't like either, hehe. Christian
Doo-Wop - classical? I think it is funny you live in Tomsk and not only know about Doo-Wop but enjoy it. And I listen to Николай Басков, now he is good singer!
Here is my entry, Dr. Eckener was not a handsome feller, but a commendable person for his contribution to lighter than air aviation in early 20th century: This is silver medal commemorating flight and delivery of LZ-126 to the United States Navy at Lakehurst NJ in 1924. Curiously the subsequently named USS Los Angeles was the only US Navy airship that did not meet an end with a crash, in fact she served on up to being dismantled and scraped in 1940. The other airships were built by Goodyear Zeppelin in the USA; USS Macon, USS Akron and USS Shenandoah and were all lost in accidents.
Oh, yeah. I have a big collection of doo-wop songs. My favorite is The Spaniels, The Penguins, Rosie & the Originals, Bobby Vee, Johny Tillotson and many of other.
ointnlaugh:Here is Da Queen on her thorne. Looks like she is squeezing out a number 2. Where does she get these hats??? Perhaps the "Used Crown Mart." :apu:
At the risk of infuriating the large American contingent on this forum, I would like to put forward the Eisenhower Dollar as a candidate for one of the ugliest coins. An unflattering portrait of Ike combined with an inelegant and obtuse reverse. The Moon doesn't even look like the moon - just circle with warts on!
