Was bored and couldn't sleep, so I thought I would create this little Star Note denomination poster? ( Sorry no hundred ) I'm pretty sure I purchased all these so It might not qualify as a find? I tried my dang-est to compress the image to a reasonable size without loosing to much quality, but if you think it will slow down things just let me know...
Yes, that is a very nice poster, Ron. I have several $50 and $100 *'s in my collection, IMO, the $100 *'s are quite common while the $50's are probably of the least common star note denominations. I think the $100's are common because people just don't have the $ to set them aside and the $50's are the least common because there are never that many $50's printed anyways. -tbud
Here's a couple of stars I found today. They aren't in great shape but they come from a run of 608,000. It may not be as good as 320,000 but it's a little better then 640,000. Derek
I finally got my 2009 Boston $1 star today. I said I would get it, and I did. I looked through 4 straps of $1's and here is my final results for today (pretty average, but since I'm sharing the '09, I figure I'll also share my other finds): 1988A F15581278S - Older FRN. 2001 A00013863A - semi low and I actually just happened to start keeping any 'A' blcocks of Series 2001 and earlier because of an interesting thread I got into about 1999, 2001, and 2003 $1's... 1995 L58436774A - Older 'A' block in pretty nice condition. 1999 L02250050C - trinary. 2009 L40330004E - trinary. 2009 A06067058* - star note. 2006 G05020821* - star note (to point out the obvious, lol) Deffinetely not an AWESOME day but certainly a nice one. I wish I could just post pictures so you guys can just see them like I used to but I 'upgraded' my phone and so far it's been a hassle but I really don't have the option to not upgrade so oh well and I don't have a regular camera at the moment...

Coinhound, That's a nice collection of stars. Did you get them all strap searching or did you buy some? Are you trying to collect stars from each series or districts? Derek
I have bought a few of them but almost all of them came from circualtion. Several of the $1's from the sixties i got for face from a guy who's sister works at a bank. I also got the $50 from him. He had 8 consecutive star $50 that he ended up putting on ebay. I tried to buy a few of them from him before hand and had to end up bidding . I paid like $53 dollars for the bill lol. I would have paid more before he tried to get more money on ebay.I know a few of them are from low runs. The grades very from well circulated to UNC. after reading a few posts on here i thionk i might try strapping for the heck of it.

I've had good luck strap searching around here. Good luck with your searching. I hope it is not at my dump bank. LOL Send me a pm If you are want to swap star notes or need one one I may have extras of. Derek
I found a $1 Series 2003 A star today, it comes from a run of 320,000, it is pretty beat up, I'd call it a VG/F... Is it worth keeping?
The last of the stars I've pulled from circulation. My scanner apparently does not like scanning my 20's though. Gasp. 2004 - EF 02314548* 2004 - EL 04927740* 2004A - GB 04730126* 2004A - GK 00426525* 2004A - GK 01029655* 2004A - GB 00160076* -L
Scanners won't have anything to do with any of the newer colorized currency... Nice finds. Is it that those are the last ones you'll ever keep or are those just the only ones you've seen since you found them? -tbud
Hi Tbud- Thanks! Yes, I wrote that a bit confusingly I meant that those are the last of the only ones I've found since I started watching. My only other is a $100 I posted in #144 here http://www.cointalk.com/t193643-10/#post1313296 Thank you for looking and the interest. I appreciate your time! -L
If I put mine on this sight it would take a bit of time, been doing them before 1993, and have a few. The nice ones are three Silver Certificates $10.00 stars 1953 MS64+.
i searched about $1500 in singles today, and found about a dozen $1 stars, including a 2003 e* 160k run that was unfortunately beat to h-e-double-hockey-sticks. got about $10k in higher denominations to check from now til 6:00...
I sure wish I have been collecting that long... I'm since 2008 but really it's only picked up for me to truely put my heart into it this year... Have you kept everything you have found since 1993? Your collection has to be nice by now... Heck, I'm still trying to find a Series 1993 $1 star! -tbud
Any Series 2009 $1 stars?? Do you search only for stars or fancy serial numbers as well? I remember you saying that you also search for older series $1's, at what series do you start keeping them? I'm just curious because I always hear you looking thru as many $1's as I do and I keep all $1's Series 1993 and earlier and any 'A' blocks of Series 2003 and earlier..
