I wonder if the Zeno solidus I’ll be submitting soon will get that label instead of the standard “Corinthian columns” label. It’s kind of neat.
Basiliscus, a loser whose claim to fame was that his time on the throne matched nearly month for month that of Romulus Augustus, the last Roman emperor. The short reign makes his coins fairly rare and costly. Rasiel
Late to the game....Beautifull solidi! I have around 75 of these/ here is #1 Western Roman Empire AV Solidus ND (350/51AD) Siscia Mint Emperor Constantius II 337-61AD acquired Triton VI
One of my main coin collecting goals is to acquire a quality Gold Aureus (preferably of Diocletian) or Solidus (preferably of Julian the Apostate) from the Siscia mint. Anyway, if anyone is interested in acquiring a Solidus like panzerman's in the post above, one is available for direct sale here: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/cg...scia_340350_22mm_443g_6h/1992169/Default.aspx
The CGBfr example has stars on exergue/ the CNG (mine) no stars. The one for sale is NOT MS/ looks FINE/VF. John PS: Here is another one of mine...acquired from GIN/ MA-shops 6900E ex: Ars Classica 2006/ Barry Fierstein collection WEstern Roman Empire AV Solidus ND (350/53) AD Aquiliea Mint Magnentius 350-54AD
I agree, but I regularly see people pay (much) more for coins in worse condition, so I posted it anyway.
Actually that price would be a "steal" if coin offered was true mint state. It was at best Very Fine. Compare it to mine from Triton VI which was graded MS/FDC.
