Beauty~~ I'm guessing many of these are coming from auctions, considering the conditions and I'm guessing the value on 19th century high grade coins generally?
rev, I bought that 1862 from Goldberg Auctions in May of this year. I had to pay nearly PF63 money for it because of the toning ($1,500 plus a 15% buyers premium). Unfortunately for me there were too many bidders that really wanted it, which drove the price up. I was hoping to score this for around $1000, but that wasn't to be. The detail you get with toned Proofs can be pretty amazing. Just look at those eagle feathers and talons - the toning adds a 3D effect - almost like a reverse cameo.
Everyone here has some really nice seated liberty halves! Mine (1877-CC) doesn't compare condition wise, but it's probably had its fair share of fun!
