Why do you call it antebellum?

 

Because it was minted before the Civil War? I think the antebellum period is strictly defined as between the war of 1812 and the Civil War, or 1815 - 1861.

I already posted this in a contest thread, but ill post it here too. The coin in hand has very original surfaces and is reallly nice. Also, don't let this thread die out! perhaps we should include seated quarters. Anyway, here it is.

but the right rev for the year.
