Especially when it's a 1850 seated dollar. Mintage 7500. With original color and surfaces. Seated dollars are a series you can buy a super rare coin for not a big premium as most people myself included are collecting them for type coins. The most under appreciated dollar coin there is. I think more people collect sba dollars (yuck!!) as to the 20 cent again wanted something other then a 75-s. I'm trying to get as many better dates and or wicked toners as I can affor d in my type set

Or is it a contemporary counterfeit? Center of the Obverse just looks wrong but other details look right either a period but altered one or an early counterfeit

I think it's genuine but tooled to death. Someone tried to re-engrave the drapery, wheat stalks, and the eagle feathers. Possibly the areas around the banner and legend as well.

I agree. Also the bale has been re engraved. Someone really wanted to "pretty up " the obverse. Otherwise not a bad looking example of a coin that is downright rare. (about the only S mint trade dollar you can say that about!)

I can hardly see the picture to make it out, but a 40 surprises me. And both TPGs gave it a body bag? Send her on back is all I can say, but at that grade, you are already buried with submission fees on 2 submittals.

Jello, that reverse is sick!!! Do you own that coin? I'd love to see the obverse! I can see why you use this as wallpaper.
