I thought this would be a fun thread. Post any impaired proofs you find roll searching. Here's one from this week to kick it off:
Found a 2008-S dime (clad), and quite a few proof halves (all clad - probably have about 15 coins). Never found a proof penny, nickel, or quarter in the wild.
Let's see the pics guys. Stories are great but pics are more fun. Here's some old half dollar proofs I found:
The folders have halves from 1970 to 2009, without 1990 and 1995, plus 2013. The rack has 110 extras. All found in rolls. Only silver is 1970.
I found a 1999 Delaware-S quarter in a mysterious bag of loose change in a kitchen drawer last month. I could have sworn it'd belonged to my youngest brother, since the bag also had a NAMCO token, but I suppose not. More for me, then! By the way, is this thread going to focus solely on S-mint impaired proofs, or will other NIFC's such as 2001+ halves and 2011+ presidential dollars be included as well? If not, I'll have to see if there's a thread for that.
mint mark S Millard Fillmore I wasnt roll searching I found this in my till at work when I got there. I really do have to get a camera that can take full pic's but im working with a microscope for now.
My thought is any proofs found circulating (mostly roll searching but in a cash register works too). Heavily or barely impaired, NIFC or not, any denomination. We'll take 'em all!
This is the only proof coin I have found. It was actually the first time I ever hunted rolls. My brother is actually the one who found it. We knew NOTHING about coins and we were sitting across the room from each other and he says "look at this one I found" and he flipped it at me from across the room. I tried to catch it and it crashed around on the coffee table and then onto the wood floor I said "NEAT!" and put it in my pocket with the other change I had. Still feel dumb about the whole situation.. Coins in pretty darn good shape though! Sorry about the poor pictures.
I found a Proof Colorado state quarter quite a few years ago and I found a really nice 1959 Proof nickel in my Dad's change about 6 months ago, no fingerprints or major marks. Sorry no pics.
Lon Chaney, in that case (in regards to welcoming all NIFC's), I also found a 2012-D Benjamin Harrison in a vending machine. It's not a proof, but it isn't meant to be circulated either, so hey! I'll take it I will add pictures soon.
