that's the best kind of coin.... one you get a great deal on! I like it. I got mine for 24.00. Still a deal.
Bought this off E-Bay. Full Stepper. Or so PCGS says it is. Yes I bought the label on this one. But, for a good price.
Just curious here, Is that one of the overdate varieties.... I know there are so many of them, but looks like some secondary digits are under the date esp, in the 8's.
(Belated reply) ¡Ay, Chihuahua, H&C! You slay me with this stuff, you really do. Didn't notice that you were the author of that post. Thought, "Oh, look, a cool Columbian Expo elongated nickel." Hit the "Like" button. Then I saw the date on the host coin. Te digo otra vez: ¡Ay, Chihuahua! And then I realized there were two different pieces there. Te digo por la tercera vez: ¡Ay, Chihuahua!
It hurt me to see that done to that low mintage coin. But I guess back then they didn't necessarily know the mintage details.
Even in the unlikely event that the person turning the crank on the rolling machine actually noticed the date on that coin, and (even more unlikely) actually knew it was a scarcer date, they might not have cared anyway. Remember, it was merely a seven-year-old nickel to them at the time. Stuff like that is a "heartbreaker" to the mainstream collector. Like kryptonite to them. But like catnip to us exonumia folk. One man's "heartbreaker" is another man's "premium material".
