Nice one too! Now you need the other 2 varieties of this date 001 & 003. Like the color but may have been cleaned and retoned. AU. from the wear.
Yeah you say you're not a nickel nut but I've seen some of you acquisitions ....... and they sure look like something a nickel nut would pull the trigger on.
I believe you be a good candidate for the 1938 D and S variety series you know D -S- D/D- D/D/S-DDD/S . Pretty neat series to collect not to mention some very cool coins .
I can post some to show you the different mint marks . Somewhere on CT I know they been posted before. go to varietyvista.com buffalo's omm 1938 there's some images.
I know my photography isn't that good and it is in the 2x2 but any comments will be welcome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks Paddy! Those are interesting. Might delve into them. What my little heart desires is a Buffalo proof, but I doubt that's happening anytime soon. Lol
These are relatively inexpensive in mid ms grades. You still can find them raw in unc . Condition . Study up on the varieties of the 38 D's and S coins. There's also quite a few in the late 30's so easy to compile a short set of Buffalo's with neat varieties .
Nice toned war nickel, decent surfaces, good luster. Your reverse photo is hiding what looks to be very attractive color.
I couldn't load the slab so GTG and I'll try and load it later. It's in an NGC slab Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok I may be obsessed with this nickel. I hope to add a 70 and a 66 to have a grading set. I also have 5 or 6 of the complete coin and currency sets. I just need one with a star note. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
