Thanks Steve! I was trying to find a photo example but had to leave for work; always easier when you can see what they're supposed to look like.

1587-1987 Canadian "Detroit de Davis Strait" exploration commemorative

I posted this yesterday in the general Coin Chat forum because I thought it would have general interest, but so far not. Denominated as $1 and .500 fine for a total of about 1/3 oz. silver, the ship on the reverse is really nice. It commemorates the 400th Anniversary of the discovery of the Davis Strait between Greenland and Canada proper. (I actually ended up buying a lot of two of these cool coins)

Well, I guess these coins aren't "new" but I've never posted them before ... sadly, the photos kinda suck, but if you click-on the photos they become super-huge, so you can kinda see the coins ...

... anyway ... I have sets from 1998 to-date, but they are in the new style of album (not quite as cool as these old babies) ...

I "made" a few of the older sets by buying empty containers from Colonial Acres and then filling them with proof coins (I hope the photos are good enough to "enjoy")

Curious? ... ummm, do you think that "blueish" toning on the silver dollars is PVC and/or some other type of harmful action, or merely toning? (for example, 1992) ...

=> *rats* ... I really didn't mean to find anything wrong with these lil' babies ... they've merely been safely tucked-away in the fault

  21. 2014 Aboriginal Story: Legend of the Spirit Bear...Mintage 1,500. metal weight 5.5 ounces or 157.6 grams, 99.9% silver. Coin more impressive in the light of day than the pictures online. I just liked the artistry, the story, every time I look at it, it's still interesting. Even the portrait side has a nice touch to it. For those who like modern silver commemorative coins with alot of numismatic power, low mintage, and artistry, I recommend it. DSCF0753.JPG DSCF0754.JPG
