Hey Halibut => thanks for answering my "tech-question" Snow? ... why yes, as a matter of fact we did wake-up do a dusting of snow this morning (funny, because I absolutely "love" when it snows for the first time => it is absolutely gorgeous outside, with the frost in the trees and the virgin powder on the lawns!! => gorgeous) ... Yah, but sadly, we all know that the novelty quickly wears-off, eh? (*sigh*) Hey, but we're heading-out to B.C. (West Coast) for my Dad's 90th B-day in mid-November, so we'll get a nice break!! (Eng, thanks again for answering my skill-testing techy question!!) Cheers, dawg!!
Those crappy holders crack on their own anyway. Most often it's the inside layer of plastic or inside plastic sleeve, first. It is so pathetic, that the holder instructions state, "Have holder replaced if inner package/seal not intact". That has to be another uniquely Canadian "inner" joke. I'm sure there is a charge for the inner package replacement. It's the equivelant of returning an uncracked egg to the supermarket, because the yolk may no longer be intact. By the way, I see you finally found a decent avatar.
Thanks. I feel like I got a pretty good deal on them. Does anyone know how hard it is to complete a set of them?
ahahaha => yup, good ol' West Coast Grunge!! (sadly for you, I'm actually just about to change-up good ol' Nirvana-man, for a new fresh Saturday Night look!! ... but thanks for noticing!!) => I hope all of you are having a great night!! (I'm gonna go make my sweet wife some nachos and then we're gonna watch a video ... snuggling on Saturday night ... man, it doesn't get any better than that!!)
If you focus on year rather than varieties (which I'm doing), not too hard in the circulated grades and fairly inexpensive; I'm about 3 away from completing. That 1881 H of yours would help. If you want every major variety, that could take awhile.....
Yeah I'm just looking to do a year set as cheaply as possible. I just got the Whitman book for .99 cents on ebay I really like that 1881 H. It looks to be VG or F. According to "Coins and Canada" that is a $6-$8 coin. Not sure where else to look for info on these coins.
That's a good reference site FurryFrog, I use it often. You can also try canadiancoin.com, lots of info and links there. If you're looking for books, Charlton Standard Catalogue and 'Canadian Coins and their Varieties' by Pierre Charest (another member suggested it; I picked it up for varieties but it has a good section on grading & the values listed are based on previous sales in most cases). Eg. the 1881 ranges VG8 - $3.50 - F15 -$5.50.
One Very nice gem George !!!! Have you ck out what if any die variety this one could have??? http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=1-dollar-1971&years=1-dollar-1971-1971#0
Obviously, that dollar has some very purdy toning goin' on, eh? => I wonder why it has the ol' blue, copper-oxidation hue? (regardless, I'm sure glad that it does!! => it's gorgeous!!) ... congrats!!
Hey George => Liz' lip looks a little bunged-up, or is it merely the photo? (either way, extremely cool)
Sorry, but I still have one more comment on that beautiful dollar-coin ... Man, that BC emblem is awesome, eh? => a Lion, an Elk? and a Bighorn-sheep!! (awesome)
Here one I just won last night. I am glad the seller had 2 1922 Nickles here there photos. I will post a few better photo when I have the coin in hand with gloves.
