Come-big, or stay at home!!! (ummm, or whatever the saying actually is!!?)

Yup, I'm bringin' another good ol' quarter ... man, I have a thousand of 'em, but I've only taken a few photos ... so here is the next winner-winner, chicken dinner!!

1870 OBV-1 Quarter (the very first Canadian "25 cent piece")

=> 900,000 minted (ummm, the ICCS originally rated this as a VF20 ... and yes, I set it free!!!)

    1870 o.jpg 1870 r.jpg

=> man, I absolutely "love" these pretty ol' Vickies!!! (classics, yes?)

... oh, and "please" feel free to give me coin-compliments "or" trash-talk my wares!! (I love talkin' coins and coin-smack!!)

    Cheers!!

Hey, I don't mean to hog the stage, but I do want to post two more coins ... thanks for following along (as I stated earlier, I very seldomly take home-photos, so I like to post 'em when I take 'em, so I don't forget about 'em!!)

So, the next quarter is the "second" Canadian quarter minted ...

    1871 OBV2 Quarter

=> it is now amazingly "142 years old" and there were only 400,000 minted (great coin) ... again, this poor ol' cat was trapped in an ICCS plastic container (VF30) ... I hope that you enjoy the total "coolness" of this great coin!!

Thanks for the kudos, coin-brothers (I always appreciate feedback!!) ...

hey, you dudes/dudettes are basically my hobbie sounding-board, right? ... thanks for putting-in your two cents!! (or two bits)

Yup, this next baby is probably my favourite quarter ... ummm, and I was probably an idiot to break it free of it's ICCS plastic-wrapper, because they gave it a "World-Class" rating of AU55 (I've never seen a higher rating/grading for this coin? ... have you?) ... please post it, if you have a better example!!

    ... anyway ...

Yah, unlike some of you dudes, I "never" plan on selling these coins, so the plastic-wrapper was merely wrecking my coin-experience!! (be free, my lil' friends)

    Here is my precious:

    1893 Q5 Quarter

    => 100,000 minted!! (nice) ... AU55 (*oh my*)

Totally amazing coin stevex6. I have been known to break open a slab or two, in fact some of the coins I will be posting over the next few weeks are tempting candidates ... for upgrade, not liberation! Regarding never "planning" to sell, reminds me of the old saying, "How do you make God laugh? Tell him your plans!" The Germans say, "Mann macht, Gott lacht." But I hope you never have to sell those amazing coins!

PS You having an identity crisis? But I like the QE II avatar (course I liked the butt too).

    Best Regards, :hail:

1870 With LCW Half Dollar AU55??? PCGS

So, the half dollars are my favorite series, don't know why. Our U.S. Kennedy half Registry Set is one of the top sets, but I guess I like the Canadian half dollars just because they are so darn challenging! Superlow mintages, tough to find with nice surfaces, lots of cool varieties, probably a series I will not complete in my lifetime.

This 1870 LCW half dollar is a case in point. I can't count the number of gray, lifeless examples I have seen over the years, both slabbed and raw, and none of them were for me. EYE APPEAL is my number one criterion for buying any coin, unless it is an "all or nothing" deal. Life is too short to own ugly coins. I know I have probably posted this piece before somewhere, but it is so nice I can't get enough of looking at it, and I hope you feel the same. I buy coins, not slabs. When I saw this on eBay I couldn't believe it! I think it is WAY undergraded. This baby has full mint luster, not to mention the gorgeous surfaces and ORIGINAL color! The coin actually looks like the TrueView photo. I couldn't believe it when I won it. This is DEFINITELY a coin I need to crack out and resubmit. Opinions? Comments? Thank you.

    Enjoy!

    Best Regards, :hail:

That's the second "Bank of Canada" one dollar note (1937 series) ... the 1935 series was the very first "Bank of Canada" series ...

However, your 1937 one dollar bill was the first one dollar bill with both "English & French" on the same note ...

=> congrats (yah, all of that old Canadian paper-money is my "true love")

She isn't exactly a new acquisition, but one of my better picture nights, and who doesn't love a gorgeously toned '48 off-denticle!!!
