I already posted what was then my entire collection...Back late last summer I guess...I posted them by topic...I have since added more to them as I have discovered the 2 for a dollar bin at CoinFest...and proceeded to spend something like $40 there...so my collection has pretty much doubled since I posted everything I had. I could resurrect those old threads or if somebody wants to add to the old threads I started, feel free...I don't start all that many so they should not be too hard to find. Here are my most treasured pieces of currency... This North Africa note was brought back from WWII by one of my four relatives who served in the war, most likely my grandfather, my father's father. (he was a coin collector apparently, I never met him). After my father died in 2002, these sat untouched in the basement until my brother was rooting around and found this and several others in behind the heater...these notes I am going to post were from that small stash...I am the third person in my family to be in possesion of them...I hope that someday I will have children or a child to give them to, with the story of how I got them, and tell them of their grandfather who served in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge and others. This 1928 United States Note was also in that stash. This Large $1 was also in that group. Seeing this blew my mind...I had not known anything other then the size that had been in circulation beginning in 1929...I found that out later, I had always known it, and this large size $1, like I said...amazed me. Unfortunatly for me, Large Size notes are generally out of my price range...I only have three, one of which is an obsolete, and is my favorite note that I didn't inherit...but I have posted that about a million times and want to limit this post to my three truly prized possesions! It it because of these three notes that I became a currency collector. Sure, the condition might be some of the worst in my collection...but that doesn't matter to me, I treasure these and I will for the rest of my life.
I was looking forward to seeing those notes too People go to museums to view stuff like that what's wrong with the contest idea... And nice MPC's, mpcUSA I have everyone of those except the series 541 $10 one. My grades are just less
Like to see some of the rarest MPC's you have,we don't see them to often.try photobucket & give us a treat !
A year ago I wouldn't have known whay a MPC was ,so here's a few I'm sure you've seen Duke.I have a long way to go plus collecting other paper & coins & vignettes !
Love the 691 $20. Dont have it either But I will some day... But the 661 $5 I have consecutive's that are very nice. Dont know if they'd grade up there with yours though. As for pictures I'll have to take a trip to the SDB and get some picts for you soon. Thanks for sharing. Yours are great.
Thx. I had been wanting a 1917 United States Note and this one was just right. A few crinkles, but most features on it are intact.
I love the vignettes on the back of the 1914 $20. The car, the train, the bi-plane, the boats...the NYC skyline with the Statue of Liberty...I love it. It's like it is the perfect representation of 20th century USA. I wish I could have one in my collection someday.
I don't collect paper per se, but when I saw this note I had to have it. The only way I could get it was in a combo group with some other coins. I probably overpaid for it but I don't care. I love the reverse and the whole bill in general.
very nice note. i love the date backs. that is one type of national i do not have. all the chicago ones i came across in AU or better are just to much for my pocket right now. maybe in summertime i will get me one :thumb:
Nice Date Back BQ... Come on over to Paper with us friend.. My Son drew Stars on this Play Money Note in school a while back... He told the teacher she was wrong, it did not have a Star on it...LOL RickieB
I received a a few world notes from my grandma and this one has always been one of my favorites because of the 5 signitures that a group of guys put on it during the war. Thought i would shade it on this post
