Without seeing it in person, I cannot say. Based on the pics posted, I am leaning toward a regular 1900-O.
It looks like a standard O. It'd be easier to tell if you did two things: 1) Take the picture straight on instead of at an angle. 2) Take higher resolution or larger images.
keep posting gang!! Morgan Dollar fever is in the air :thumb:Wow speechless:kewl: & just to many new DMPL & Morgan dollars I am blinded by the light :thumb:
Just bought this! The seller photographed the obverse in front of a U.S.Flag to show the mirrors. It's my first Deep-Mirror Proof-Like (DMPL) Morgan.
Your collection of PLs and DMPLs is something to be proud of blu62!! I love looking at them. I am in awe that you have been able to accumlate so many (with all the tough years to work through). I posted this photo in another thread. I wanted to show the mirror of a recent DMPL I bought (same coin posted above). I find it's hard to get the lighting right (this was shot in indirect diffuse sunlight) with my iPhone -- and the mirror on this coin is so reflective that you see the camera in the coin at most angles.
Thanks WL, I will never have a high grade set but I have fun going for the lower stuff in PL/DMPl for the harder dates. Every once in a while I get lucky. Here are 2 examples: I bought this coin a long time ago and had it up for sale at one point, no buyers. Turns out to be the top pop for the VAM and looks more PL than my PL coin. The 79-S rev of 78 is very hard in PL. It often looks PL but there are breaks in the luster that hurt the coins. Then there is the PL 79-S rev of 78. This coin has it all. Rare, nice looking, OGH, CAC, and 79-S is my favorite year for Morgans (I have 12 including Redfield, GSA, DMPL, PL, Toned PL, One sided DMPL, etc....). Luckily a friend called and asked me if I wanted it, he had it at a show that day and the offers were mediocre. It was a coin he thought I should have and I was happy to pay more than the offers. I have been offered 4 times what I paid. Total PCGS pop for this coin last I looked was 64. This is a coin that when I show it to the registry sets above me they all want it. The 64PL Jack Lee coin is in Heritage soon and will be intersting to see the price. It has been on Ebay for a while at various prices.
keep posting gang!!I think?? Morgan Dollar fever is in the air :thumb:Nice folks BV& all other who posted!!! :kewl: here the 1st year again:thumb:
It's a real treasure hunt, isn't it. That's a very interesting story. I bet you could write a book on this. You were lucky that nobody bought it. I know what you mean about coins looking PL but not getting slabbed PL -- and others that are slabbed PL and dont look it. I've seen a number of these. There must be a subtlety that I am not catching. That coin is really stunning! It's great when you have people looking out for you. Wow, total population of 64 ... now that is a hard find! I will keep my eye on Heritage for the 64PL Jack Lee, that will be interesting to watch unfold.
