Unfortunately, their line is at its end as there are no children to pass it on to. It took a lot of research, we spent about a month or so on it, but totally worth it! And agreed, I would never sell it if I owned it, but my budget isn't exactly amenable to the purchase. Perhaps I will be able to purchase it in time when I'm able to save up.
Thats incredible that it has been in your family. I own a lot of love tokens but none of them can be traced back like yours.
That's awesome, I have the gold love token bracelet that I posted earlier in the threat, but it's not my family heirloom so I'm very jealous that you've got something like this with personal connection. Very cool!
I picked this one up the other day since it has my family initial and I liked the look a lot. 1853 seated liberty quarter:
How do you like my rare & valuable ANA token? Legend has it that people were paid to stand in line at the 1889 ANA convention to get one. It is also possible that some lady was named Ana or had the initials AAN. I like the 1889 American Numismatic Association story better. Just joking people. BTW, I have some love tokens that have individual letters on them. They are placed in albums so that they spell different words. It's like playing Scrabble with coins. I'll try to get some photos to post.
There are lots of neat single letters to collect and many monograms to decipher. Love tokens are also made with coins of the World (Obviously it's not limited to USA coins). I have some that were engraved on German coins I think. I'll try to get more photos of the single letters & World coin love tokens.
