I decided to see if I could undo whatever happened to it.</p><p><br /></p><p>First, I rinsed it in distilled water. I put the water into a small container, gently held the coin, and swished it around vigorously. Occasionally I changed my grip to make sure every part of the surface was equally rinsed.</p><p><br /></p><p>Then I rinsed it in acetone, using the same method, then finally xylene. This took about 10 minutes altogether. I took some more pictures and it looked like there was still some crud on the left wheat stalk.
