It is my theory the rolling fluid used when making the sheets was garbage - full of suspended solids. As the machine rolled the sheets, the fine impurities got embedded into the rollers, damaged them and this gunk transferred into the planchets. Sheets are rolled through different levels back and forth until the desired thickness is obtained. The gunk stuck in the rollers impregnates the surface forming lines.</p><p><br /></p><p>As I recall [USER=1844]@Doug[/USER] stripped a one sided woody and you could still see faint traces of the lines?
