Photos are very hard to read color from - and I still have not figured out just what the TPG's call red. I don't mean how much red must be there to say red but what colors still constitute red. I guess when it is all said and done, I would not have guessed red, but it does not seem totally impossible.
Agreed. 65+/66RB would be much more suitable grades. The coin is definitely more eye-appealing than your typical "RD" example! Although, I personally prefer BN/RB Coppers. Awesome '17-D, Lance, no matter what the label says! Slap your own "RB" sticker on there... That'll show 'em! -Brian
I just posted this on the new aquisitions thread ... I just got this TrueView photo back from PCGS on my "Fire and Ice" 1937 Proof Lincoln. This was an NGC PF65 BN and it crossed at grade to PCGS Secure Plus PR 65 BN.
I just got this MS67 back from John Albanese and he put his seal on it - pop 1/0. I was kinda' hoping it would sticker!
Now if you can get that '47 67RD to cross at PCGS it will really be worth something! Price guide shows $3.5k for a 67 but $260 for a 66. I attempted to cross dozens of NGC 67RD's but just one made it. CAC stickers not withstanding. <sigh> Lance.
Just bought a box of pennie's. Not too sure what I am looking for but thought I would give it a try. Any hints out there on good ones to look for and keep? Thanks.
1918 Lincoln Toner Been slow here lately but picked up a pair of nicely toned cents. Here's the 1918 Lincoln.
I fully agree. Toned copper is the most beautiful and makes the best vivid colors. Your '66 cent is awesome!
Here's a 1962 toned proof set my grandfather ordered from the mint and stored....and then gave to me. The Lincoln is beautifully toned just on the high points of the obverse.
Another New One I found this one in the Heritage Auction for CSNA that ends tomorrow. It has taken a while to find a pleasing 65RB, but this one now has a home!
