The proof? If that’s the one you’re referring to I was made an offer I couldn’t refuse, though it took me several years to agree. It was without a doubt the most beautiful coin I owed and a few thought it was the most beautiful Lincoln proof around. The reverse was especially unreal.
Darn you 2!! (@BadThad @robec ) You made me take out the "old" penny folder... and reminded me it has a few holes unfilled.... On the positive side, I'm sure I have most of those dates "on-hand"..... Where on-hand (which of several hundred mixed rolls has the goodie i want lol) Ahh well gives me something to do and any excuse to go through some rolls is a good one lol...
So, not to ruin everyone's '54 buzz, but here is my newest to the set...'17 S. Probably need to rephotograph the obverse, but it is late and I wanted to share.
Re imaged my '54 S Blazing luster, die scratches on the left lower wheat stalk, under OF, and from the tip of the left wheat head through E Pluribus. Edit: weakness of strike with some planchet chatter through the center of the reverse and a few other hits would keep this down but the color and luster are pretty decent.
Found this '54 (P) in my collection and time to cut it out of the plastic it was in. Took pictures, before after, and in airtite. This has original color and superb luster. Some spotting and the line from the ear to the eye does not seem to be a scratch but is discolored. Probably not a 66 due to spots and chatter, but very nice red color and luster of a 67.
In honor of the sudden passing of Stewart Blay on Friday I’m posting two of my favorite MPL’s once owned by him.
