Picked up 4 of these 1955 "last five shifted" cents for a dollar. Really got them for free as I bundled a few UNC mint sets in the deal. That's just a little piece of plastic on the reverse rim that I noticed after taking the picture.
Some SUPER cents throughout this thread. I'm a 1957 birth year guy so I'll post this one: Bob Campbell Images
This is the third of a three-coin lot. Also MS66 RD. I didn't really need this coin, since I already have two. This one was one of my earliest photographs. Some day I will do it over so it's not so rough looking.
Should come right off. However, I think I see some light, reddish toning, VC will also remove that. If you spot treat those, it may turn out undesirable and you'll likely end up treating the whole coin.....but say bye to that light red color.
Got this a while back in an ANI slab that said MS67 small date for a dollar. Not a small date and probably not a 67 but has some awesome luster in hand!
I got back into the Lincoln game after being gone for awhile...looking at this thread, and all the gorgeous Lincolns prompted me to bid....and subsequently win, these beauties in todays Great Collections auction....these are the initial coins for my planned 1909-1934 toned set
So at the flea market a hour ago and was kicking myself for not having my loupe. Found a seller I had never seen before and he had a bunch of presidential dollars for 2 dollars each...not interested but then I find a 1909 LWC in a box with a small sticker with 2.50 on it stuck right to the reverse of the coin. I gently peel it back but honestly can't see anything. The guy says its not a VDB so I say you have this sticker that says 2.50 and he says give me 2 bucks so we make the deal. I pull the sticker off gently and out it by itself in my coin pocket of my jeans So I get home and pull out the loupe to get a look at the wheat stalks cause I think I dont see any wear on the stalks with just my 1.5 readers. And low and behold... BAM! VDB jumps out at me! So a quick soak in acetone took these pictures and into the airtites he goes!
This might be a stupid question but how high can a brown LWC grade? I mean at high MS levels doesn't luster factor in? I am not saying this 41-D is a high MS but looking at the obverse has me pondering that question...looks maybe RB on the obverse with some mint luster and red on the reverse? Thoughts?
