If you look at the G in GOD, the only variety that has the same spread is the 1970 S DDO-001. If you look at the 7 there is a die scratch that goes through it. The first two examples are my coin. The 2nd two pictures are examples from Vista Variety.
Sorry, I meant Variety Vista. And if you look at all of the 1970 S DDO LMC's on Coppercoins, you'll get the same result.
Broke this out of a old PCGS 63rb with a CAC,sent it in to PCGS and it came back as a 63brown,but a S/horizontal S. Pretty cool,I thought I saw a something on the mintmark earlier when i first bought the coin, but dismissed anything at the time as it was in a normal 1909-S holder with no variety. Guess PCGS missed it the first time around.
Thanks. When I opened the package I was absolutely amazed by the color. The one thing that is not picked up in the image is the amazing red cartwheel luster that is under that dark patina on the obverse. Just turning it in hand is incredible. I can't for the life of me figure out how the seller accepted the offer I gave when they had the coin in hand. Here's the seller's photo's. I could see potential from the images.
That's crazy. Those images aren't bad - if you know what you're looking for, the potential is plain. Wash the color out with a single hard light on the obverse. Bet you pick up the luster on a fast exposure.
This one will be fun to play with under my camera. I'll post other images as I experiment. I knew instantly what potential I was hoping for by reading the seller's images. But I've been let down nearly as many times when the coin arrives in hand. This time was celebration time. LOL
