With today's arrival of my 1967 Lincoln SMS, I have completed my set of post-war Lincoln proofs. The 1950 cent is in a proof set in a Capitol Plastics holder, but this display shows the post-war wheat, memorial, bicentennial, and union shield proofs from 1951-2010. (Yes, just one token sample of the Union Shield back.) I used the Lighthouse Quadrum 2x2's so the black insert would show off the colors, and a storage case I also found in their catalog. The dark blue trays also show of the proofs. In a few cases I upgraded coins that had stains on their obverses, so I put them in as duplicates and flipped them over, so I could show the reverses, too. At the transitional years I put them reverse facing up - a wheat back next to the 1959 memorial back, and the four 2009's and the 2010 shield with the reverses up. Where I had the coin still in the mint packaging, I just took the insert out of the holder and put the cellophane packet in that way. I hope the picture gives some idea of how nicely it turned out. I added this detail of the first tray, 1951, through memorial back and 1960 small and large dates. Sorry about the weird truncation!
Not long, really. About two months ago I saw a Dansco Lincoln set at my LCS - the folder that also has slots for the San Francisco proofs starting in 1975. The folder only ran up to 1991, so the original collector had filled in the blank slots with proofs. There were 1957-59, most from 61 on, and all from 75-91. I bought the 60 small and large dates, then filled back down from 56 to 51, and bought "decade" runs on eBay for the 90's, 2000's, and the 2009 bicentennial set of four (very cheap!!). I also had to pick up 73S and 74S that were missing. I really had a head start with the Dansco and the real body of the work was done by my anonymous predecessor. Here is one of his contributions that was a little cloudy in the folder, but I rinsed it, and it turned out to be a cameo with blue toning. (I think I posted this before).
My father gave these to my 7 y/o son. He can have them when he gets around my age (late 30's). My father pulled these out of circulation growing up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is what is left in my Dansco, waiting for the last box of 2x2's to arrive. The other business strikes have already been taken out and are in display trays just like the proofs.
Working on an old building that's been under construction for months. Floors have been trashed and cleaned many times over that time and today I found this on the floor.
Haven't bought myself any kind of Wheat cent since April I believe in Baltimore. Just snagged two news ones, a 1912 and a 1943 steelie with color. NGC 1943 MS67... going to send it in to PCGS when I get it.
No, it's a rim ding but the weird dot under the F on the reverse is raised. Not sure how that happened.
I noticed that there were 23 listed DDO's for this year and mm. Variety Vista Do you know which one it is?
