This is the most common date in Proof. It took congressional authorization to make that happen.</p><p><br /></p><p>The first 1912-D nickels were struck in February. Coin is very common in the Good and VG grades, but become progressively more expensive in grades of VF and higher. They were the last Liberty Nickels that the government issued officially. Of course the shady dealings that went on with the 1913 Liberty Nickels make them the last of their kind.
