Beautiful coin, Martin! There certainly is a resemblance to those coins depicting St. George slaying a dragon..
Another proto-knight, this Syracuse - Hieron II horseman carries a long lance and wears what appears to be protective (leather with straps over the shoulders?) clothing.
Saint George slaying the dragon This previous thread describes men on horseback (not necessarily knights). http://www.cointalk.com/t85716/ There are a plethora of Russian coins depicting a knight on horseback. Look on the reverse at the center of the shield. Saint George slaying the dragon is the Coat of arms of Moscow. How do you like this 1861 Russia 15 Kopek with reticulated edge?
This more recent thread has even more pictures of horse coins than the one Collect89 linked to: http://www.cointalk.com/t217793/ Not all of them are "knight-like" but many are.
Wa da ya think? Not a knight but it is a beautiful coin IMO. I bought it at the Philadelphia ANA in 2012.
Not a knight neither This coin is on my want list. The next time one of you guys visits North Korea, please get one for me.
Thanks to Collect89 and brg5658 for the links. I'll be sure to check them out. By the way, nice 15 kopeck Collect89.
