I bought this ANACS graded Lowell West Point quarter last week from our coin club President. Soon after the Lowells were released, he bought an Unc roll online from a dealer, who had pulled a number of them from a box of 2019-Ps. He paid $1000 for the roll or $25 per coin. He picked the best 11 to send in for grading, and I believe he told me 2 came back MS67 and the others MS66. He sold me this MS66 for $40 (he had $37 into each coin). I also bought a raw San Antonio Missions W from him for $25 that appeared to be about the same condition. I asked him to send it in to be graded with the next batch of club coins. I’ll post pictures when it comes back. If you don’t have a graded W, post pictures of your best one(s). FYI, the 8 various W quarters I have personally found CRH aren’t nearly as nice as this one. But, I haven’t been able to find a full box of 2019 quarters either. Therefore, I believe mine had been rolled more than once and sustained damage accordingly. If you got ‘em, post ‘em!
That Lowell is nice and looks close to 67 to me I have 2 San Antonio Ws that might have a shot at 67, just waiting until I hopefully get 3 or 4 more and maybe a possible 68 to send 'em off.
Thanks! I have the other three but they're no where near 67, too many hits. I would never pay to buy one already slabbed. I just did it to test my "NON" professional grading skills. I did a lot of research and looking at other slabbed AMP's & SAM's before I submitted these. I even posted them here for opinions on grades. Most said 65. I knew they were better then 65. So I took a chance. I was happy with the results. I have no intention of selling them. I know this whole "W" thing will be a fading fad eventually. Knowing this hobby, these coins will be worth less then what I paid to have them slabbed in a few years!
Thanks to everyone who replied. Here are 2 more graded Ws I just got back from ANACS. I can’t touch the MS67s by @Islander80-83, but at least I’m being consistent with MS66.
Very nice Tex! Their slab color has changed a little bit. I like them. ANACS is all I use. I got lucky with this RONR as well. I've been looking at a War in the Pacific for the past week, I pulled from a roll. My gut says it's not a quite a 67. I'm still tempted to submit it, to see if my luck holds up.
Awesome Islander! Are you finding these MS67s in the wild or buying them from dealers? Also, let's see the WIP you are considering.
Thanks! NO!!! NO!!! I would never buy them. I'm only searching boxes. This is the one I'm struggling with. The fields look pretty good on both sides. I don't like the hits on his neck, jaw and cheek. However, there are similar hits on one of the 67's. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.
