I also noticed that they are sending D mint coins to those out west and P mint coins to those in the east. Am I wrong?
Whoah, that looks worse than mine! I got a 64, but George's face on mine is pretty badly dinged several times and I thought maybe it should have gotten a 62 because of luster. Yours appears to be a 60-61. It was probably the mass grader with the Costco size tub of Red Vines at his desk that graded these.
Very cool giveaway. Looks like I'm a little late to the party, but I'm signed up now. Thanks for the link!
I'm imagining some poor guy hunched over a desk with a dim light and an old computer with a five gallon bucket at his feet filled with quarters, knowing he can't go home until they're all graded.
I just looked at an old thread by the Penny Lady where she took a tour of PCGS and posted a bunch of pics. I swear, when I saw the pic of one mass grader at his cubicle with the family size tub of Red Vines, I just thought: "you've got to be kidding me." It was as though the job of grading was not taken serious. Oh, by the way, the grading rooms are dimly lit with each grader having a separate light to themselves.
sonlarson, those are MS, but probably only 62's because of luster. Too many scratches/dings to be higher. If they came from roll then most will be 62-64 with 2-3 in the 65-66 range.
I would like to preface this by saying I'm a novice at grading. 60, 61. I've gotten quarters in change that didn't look that beat up.
